Dear FAHSAA Fellow Eagle Classmates,

It is my honor to serve you and to express my deepest gratitude to all of you for allowing me to lead you in this capacity as Acting President. There are many wonderful people who are working hard behind the scenes to bring our Association to another level as we begin to see our needs change.

Please look at the Directory, page 3 to see who your leadership team is for FAHSAA. The Leadership team (comprised of the Executive Board, Class Reps and Chairs of Committees) have worked hard to make various changes/revisions of the following:

1. Bylaws-Your vote is required on the FAHSAA website reviewed and approved by the Board of Directors
2. Reunion Assistance Fund Committee (RAFC) chaired by Kathryn Cooney ‘67
3. Reunion Selection Committee chaired by Peggy Rowland Sanchez ‘71
4. Website Team headed by Liaison Chair, Erik Thamm ‘68

We created two positions which are subject to renewal every two years as part of the Leadership team: We are grateful and appreciative of Kathryn Cooney ’67 as our Legal Counsel – who has worked behind the scenes since our group became newly organized and Gaye Crosby Doane ’69 who has been an integral part of our Association since the creation of our group when I became the first president for FAHSAA. We have had many wonderful people step up to assist the organization over a long period of time. We are grateful to all who have helped to make a difference in the past and now in the future. Thank you all for your service to FAHSAA.

A new committee was formed just after the Las Vegas reunion as follows;

1. Quilts of Valor Committee -Chaired by Erica (Ricki) Nelson Menard ‘71

   This committee was created after all who were in attendance witnessed the wonderful efforts Ricki worked on to make a huge difference for our classmates. Ricki worked to have all those FAHSAA members attending the Las Vegas reunion who honorably served our Country to be recognized with a Quilt from their hometown. The Quilt of Valor was presented during a wonderful ceremony at the Class of ‘68’s 50th Reunion.

   The cruise will not allow for us to do this sort of presentation for 2019 as many are arriving at different times and staying in different hotels. However, the plan is to rekindle this opportunity for those attending the Class of ’70’s 50th Anniversary once the host committee is ready to present to the Site Selection Committee and is approved by them. Thank you Ricki and Linda Buckles Brashear ’69 for serving on this committee. Be sure to let Ricki and Linda know of any qualifying alum who will be attending the 50th reunion for the Class of ’70—they’ll work on quilts for those veterans. This is open for all classmates regardless of class year who served our Country.

There are new Class Reps who hopefully have been in touch with you regarding the upcoming cruise and to inform you about going to the website. If you have not been contacted, please contact one of us on the Leadership team so we can get you connected.

It is with my deep appreciation that I thank Pat Royal Nicks ’70 as Treasurer and Elaine Anderson Gierek ’69 as Secretary for their service to FAHSAA. They have performed their positions in an exemplary way for our Association and their roles were a huge help to all of us. They have completed a two-year term and are vacating their position in 2019 according to the 2018 Bylaws.

In 2019, new elections for those positions will be needed. Please contact Guy Bennett ’68, Vice President for any nominations you have for these two positions. He will work closely with Erik Thamm ’68 to get the information on the website and ready for a vote one month (by March 28th 2019) before the Business meeting to be held on April 28, 2019.

In closing, I wish to thank all committee chairs and their committee members (they are listed in the Directory) for all the time exhausted to help bring the FAHSAA to a new level. I am most appreciative of everyone’s effort. I could not do it alone without the professional way in which everyone has openly dialogued to get where we are today.
