John Brooks passed away this morning around 1:00 am.  He passed away due to respiratory failure. He was really struggling yesterday to get a breath. At least he is not in any pain anymore..... breathing freely.....walking tall...with his mom and omma who he loved dearly. I hope that John will tell St Peter at the Pearly Gates a clean joke so he can get into heaven.

Remember.... .to grab your loved ones and tell them you love them and hold on tight to them....life is too short to sweat the small stuff.

Dad passed away Saturday morning with Family around and he's now pain free.  God had a special plan and we were all blessed to have him for 79 years.  I know that it was tough on him this past year but I was able to be with him in Orlando to pay my final respects to a wonderful Dad, grandfather, and great-grand father.  Services will be March 6 and it will be another tough day but Dad is without a doubt in a better place.

Thank you all for your prayers and may God Bless You All.

Jimmy

Great news! Chris Richards has been released! But remember, Chris, just because you are getting discharged by no means will prayers and positive thoughts stop!

Ed is in a holding pattern of wait and see.  His first round of Chemo was not effective and he has finished the second round with a much slower chemo treatment and it has just hit his system and therefore he is at the stage of feeling very ill and depressed at times.  It is the doctor's hope that this slow process will be much more effective and hopefully put him in some stage of remission.  It is anticipated to take 45 days.  So after 6 weeks already in the hospital he has to wait for another 45 days,  The next step is a bone marrow transplant.  Lillian has been tested if she can be a donor but has not had any word yet if she is a match.  The good news is he has been fever free for over a week  and has not had any infections.

As you can well imagine the time goes slowly for Ed but he does have determination to fight this.  I know he would love to get cards and to know there are people out there praying for his recovery.

His address is:   Ed Bennett

Chris Richards update!

Today they took Chris off the vents AND...he said Gretchen's name when the nurse asked him who she was! He tried to flip open her cell phone with his thumb and then dial!  He also figured out how to take the pulse oximeter off......AND...he puckered up his lips...gave her a kiss...made a lip smacking sound and smiled!

Chris is still in ICU and will be there for awhile. He still has pneumonia and needs to get by the period of concern for vaso-spasms.

This is a miracle when you consider that 9 days ago, the doctor told Gretchen to say her final good bye to Chris. The hospital Chaplain came by today because she heard the news about Chris and wanted to see for herself. She couldn't believe the difference from 9 days ago when she stood at his bedside ready to give him last rites.

Gretchen thanks everyone for all your prayers, love, and support. But...don't stop now! he said when she left he was flirting (though not talking) with the cute young nurse. Could this be a good sign our Chris is coming back? We think so!!!

Chris Richards update!

Yesterday was a bad day.  Chris didn't respond to any of the tests the doctors/nurses gave him about moving hands or fingers, etc. He just sort of stared but he did not seem to recognize anyone.

However, with the light of day, things seem more hopeful. Gretchen was in the hall outside of his room and he seemed to gaze out at her.  The nurse told her, "he's looking at you."  She is hoping that is true. She asked him if he could to give her a thumbs up and he did!  That was huge!

Today is going to be very big. They are going to try to take the intubator out and see if he can breathe on his own. Seeing how he does will determine whether or not they do a tracheotomy.  So there is a lot going on with our Chris today and Gretchen is right there by his side.

Please keep Ed Bennett class of '70, and his family in your thoughts and prayers.  Ed has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), and is undergoing chemo-therapy at Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, California.  Ed’s sister, Lillian Bennett Deal class of '71, and Ed’s wife, Becky, are constantly at his side, encouraging Ed and monitoring the results of each treatment.  Rather than cards or phone calls, they ask that you send prayers and good wishes.  The doctors are concerned about exposure to visitors as well.  As many of you know, family illness is exhausting for all family members.  Please keep the entire family in your hearts.
