Thelma Brown Cooney Memorial Donation
February 5, 2019
Dear Fellow FAHSAA Alum,
Many have heard of the sad news of the very recent passing of the mother of Frankfurt Alumnae, Kathy and Ginny Cooney, and their sister Toni and their late brother Jack “Benje” Cooney. Their mother’s name is Thelma “Junior” Brown Cooney and here is the link or pathway to the obituary in the Paris, Texas local newspaper – http://theparisnews.com/obituaries/.
This is not typically a situation where we as an association would send either a floral arrangement or donate to a charity or cause in memory of passing of the parent or extended family member of an alum using funds from the association’s budget, however, I think most will wholeheartedly agree that we cannot ever thank Kathy Cooney, specifically, enough for all the expertise and support she has provided professionally to our organization over the years.
It’s my hope that many will consider this proposal—and that is to offer an opportunity to the entire alum through an e-blast, allowing those who can and wish to participate to donate to the Paris, Texas Public Library in memory of Mrs. Cooney. If you look at it, their mother, Thelma “Junior” Brown Cooney, was instrumental in laying a foundation for them, resulting in the two women that so many of us know and love, respect and appreciate. This is a special way to send our message of sympathy and support to the entire family and to honor their mother.
If anyone wishes to make a donation no later than Friday, February 22, 2019, here is the link to the FAHS Donation page on the website using the PayPal account – https://frankfurthigh.com/dues.php –you’ll find a pull-down menu on the lower right of the page to indicate an amount and then add a memo stating your donation is for the “Library Fund” or “Cooney Memorial Fund.” Should you have questions or need additional assistance, please contact Gaye Doane—719-233-5542,
