Antonio Reunion!
Who: Anyone that spent even one day
as an Eagle is invited.
What: A gathering to celebrate the
50th anniversary of the graduation of the class of 1959 with ALL our
friends. (See “Who” above.)
Where: The historic Menger Hotel in downtown San Antonio, Texas.
When: October 6-9, 2009; Tuesday to
Friday.
Why: Why not?
The Menger Hotel is on Alamo Square, and one block from the
River Walk. We have 115 rooms, at a rate
of $140 per night. That rate is also
available for two nights before and two nights after the reunion, if you want
to see more of San Antonio.
Parking is available at the hotel, but cheaper off-site for those who drive
to San Antonio. There is no free airport shuttle, but
shared-ride vans are available. Come
with a few friends and share the cost.

Wednesday night is the Sock Hop in the hotel ballroom and the only
all-inclusive event. The rest of the
time is for you to enjoy San Antonio
while renewing past friendships.
A registration check-in table will be open from 1200 to 1800 on Tuesday, 6
October 2009, in the lobby of the Historic Menger Hotel. After that, you can check-in through the
reunion hospitality suite. The
hospitality suite will be open from 1200 to 2200 on Tuesday, from 0900 to 1700
on Wednesday, and from 0900 to 2200 on Thursday. Coffee, tea and water will be available. Snacks will be available as well as a cash
bar in the hospitality suite on Tuesday from 1800 to 2200. A message board will be available at
registration and in the hospitality suite.
A registration form is being developed.
It will ask for the usual information, plus the number of reservations
for the dinner/sock hop and the number of T-shirts ordered. The form will be e-mailed to everyone and
mailed to those without a computer. Because
payment for the dinner and any T-shirts ordered must accompany the form, it
will need to be returned by postal mail.
The lead time required by the
hotel for dinner, and to print the T-shirts, requires that registration forms
be received no later than 31 July 2009.
The registration form will indicate to whom they should be sent.
A photo of the T-shirt accompanies this flyer. The price is $14 for sizes through Large; and
$16 for X and XX sizes. Pay for your
T-shirt when you send in the registration form, and pick up your T-shirt when
you check-in. Note that there are two
versions of the T-shirt. One has the
dates 1959 and 2009 on either side of the eagle, the other does not.
Because the $1000 fee to reserve the ballroom will be applied to the cost
of the dinner, we have reduced the cost to $35 per person, which includes tax
and the 18% service charge.
The Planning Committee has selected the “Fiesta Mexicana” as the menu for
the Wednesday dinner. A copy of the menu
accompanies this flyer. A cash bar will
be available in the ballroom during dinner and the sock hop for your
convenience.
Also accompanying the flyer is a map of downtown San Antonio showing the numerous parking lots
and garages as alternatives to parking in the hotel.
Reservations for your hotel room must be made through the hotel no later
than 5 September 2009 to get the reduced rate.

High School 2009 Reunion. The price of $140 per night for a hotel room
in downtown San Antonio
is by any standard more than reasonable.
Only the dinner/sock hop has been scheduled as an all-encompassing reunion
activity. Individual classes and groups
can use the hotel concierge to schedule tours, etc. Class volunteer representatives will be most
welcome to coordinate such events.
We have selected the perk that “full” dues payers will receive, but that
will be a secret for now. However, every
attendee will receive a souvenir of the reunion as a reminder of the event.
We anticipate that some attendees will bring school memorabilia for
display. There will be an area in the
hospitality suite for such display, but you are responsible for the security of
your items. Do not leave them
unattended.
There will also be a picture board on display in the hospitality
suite. Bring your own 3x5 photo, or trust
us to provide them.
